Located near the Imperial Palace and the Yasukuni Shrine, Chidorigafuchi Is a national Japanese cemetery and memorial for around 350,000 unidentified war dead of the Second World War. Despite its gloomy background, Chidorigafuchi is, once a year during hanami (the ‘cherry blossom season’), one of Tokyo’s hottest places to enjoy the cherry blossoms either by walking along Chidorigafuchi’s moat or by boat if you are patient enough to wait for hours before being able to rent one.

Situé près de l’Imperial Palace et du sanctuaire Yasukuni, Chidorigafuchi est un cimetière national japonais et un mémorial consacrés à quelques 350 000 soldats inconnus qui ont donné leur vie lors de la seconde guerre mondiale. Malgré son atmosphère plutôt sombre, Chidorigafuchi sait offrir une ambiance chaleureuse pendant quelques jours par an, le temps du hanami (la période des cerisiers en floraison). On peut ainsi en profiter soit en marchant le long des douves de Chidorigafuchi, soit, pour ceux qui sont prêts à patienter plusieurs heures avant d’être servis, en louant un bateau.
